Sime Darby Property’s Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club (“KLGCC”) was delighted to host golf legend and six-time Major Champion, Sir Nick Faldo, at an exclusive signing ceremony on 10 March 2025. Sir Nick has officially joined as KLGCC’s new Golf Course Design Consultant, marking the beginning of an exciting journey to enhance the club’s East Course.

The signing between Sir Nick Faldo (“Faldo Design Inc”) and Jordan Ng, Director of KLGCC Berhad was witnessed by Tun Musa Hitam, KLGCC Club President; Datuk Syed Tamim Ansari Syed Mohamed, KLGCC Club Captain; Adam Calver, KLGCC General Manager; and Mark Adams representing Faldo Design Inc. Mr Axel Cruau, Ambassador of France to Malaysia; Mr. B.N. Reddy, High Commissioner of India to Malaysia; Members of Sime Darby Property's Board and senior management team, along with KLGCC officials, KLGCC members and invited guests were also present to mark this significant occasion.

Expressing enthusiasm about his first project in Malaysia, Sir Nick Faldo highlighted his vision to elevate KLGCC’s East Course. Leveraging the existing natural landscape of the course, including its lush trees, water features, and appealing terrain, Sir Nick Faldo and his Faldo Design team aim to transform it into a golf course of exceptional quality, aligning with KLGCC’s standards.

Additionally, thru this partnership, KLGCC will be hosting two notable Faldo Series tournaments—the Faldo Junior Tour and the Faldo Futures Malaysia Qualifying Event. These tournaments will offer young Malaysian golfers, aged 7-21 years, the opportunity to engage in competitive golf within an enriching environment and pathway to gain international exposure, following in the footsteps of renowned Faldo Series alumni such as Rory McIlroy, Yani Tseng, and Malaysia's very own Kelly Tan.

“My on-going involvement in golf extends beyond Faldo Design through my passion for junior golf in The Faldo Series.  Therefore having the opportunity to bring the Faldo Series to KLGCC will undoubtedly bring a platform for children to experience competitive golf in a great environment and open up opportunities for them to progress their golf within a global series of golf tournaments.  We will bring to KLGCC the Faldo Futures for 7-12 year olds, giving them the chance to have an early fun introduction to golf competitions and then progress to the Junior Tour which are 54 hole World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) events.  All providing the opportunity for players to progress to my Faldo Series Asia Grand Final”, said Sir Nick Faldo.

Guests at the event enjoyed engaging moments with Sir Nick Faldo, including autograph sessions and photo opportunities, creating lasting memories for all in attendance.

Established in 1991, KLGCC is renowned for its world-class facilities and lush greenery, strategically situated just 8km from Kuala Lumpur’s vibrant city centre. Its championship courses have notably hosted major tournaments, including the PGA TOUR, European Tour, and LPGA events, all within a single year for three consecutive years. The West course at KLGCC is currently the host venue for the LPGA’s highest prize purse in Asia – the Maybank Championship.
