The rainfall over the past few months was welcome earlier on when the water levels were getting to a critical point, due to the high usage on the West and the new greens growing in on the East. Then it turned around and came down like freight train from Ipoh with no brakes…and couldn’t be stopped. But that’s how unpredictable the weather has been this year, which is what we must put up with in the tropics.
Hands on monitoring has been essential in the initial period of grow in for the new greens, which has been completed within the 6 week schedule, with regular verticutting, dusting, fertilising and pest control critical for the development of greens in the shortest possible period.
Fairways, Roughs and Tees areas have been lightly fertilised, GCM will be concentrating on keeping the course as neat and tidy as possible whilst focusing on cultural practices that will keep the course in its best possible condition during the transition stages of construction. |
