PHASE 1

Phase 1 (10-18) is continuing to improve as the turf profile matures and thatches up slightly. Once areas have matured, various disease seems to decrease and the response to fertilising improves.

GCM received further additional machinery in March & April and have been experimenting with rates and application methods so as to produce a higher quality playing surface. Machine operators will also be receiving training and hands on practical operations for the new equipment in the coming months.

CONSTRUCTION ON 2ND PHASE

Inspection of greens sand for the remaining holes on the front nine was conducted to ensure quality is up to specifications and standards, with testing conducted by NZTI and approved by the Architect and myself for use on the remaining greens.

Inspection of ‘Plantations’ turf nursery (Salem) recently indicated a possible shortage in available turf they could supply, however we received deliveries are confident of continuing for the remainder of phase 2 until completed.

With the second phase almost completed, we expect the final touches to the buggy paths and landscape areas to be completed on schedule and awaiting the final opening of the 18 holes in the coming months.

We here the GCM department are looking forward to the completion and opening of the new course so that we can provide a first class golf course for all to enjoy.
